Flaring Nut

With more than four decades’ experience producing fasteners for the aerospace industry, FTC is proud to provide flaring nuts for industry leaders.

Flaring Nut

Flaring nuts, or flare nuts, are used to create seals on joints where gas or hazardous materials such as fuel, oil or hydraulic fluid are involved, or where there is vibration. Consequently, they are widely used in aerospace manufacture, where these situations are commonplace. The nuts are typically tougher, comes with floating option and can tolerate greater torque than other nuts for standard compression assemblies.  The seal is achieved when the material in the flare is compressed against the mating tube to create a flare fitting seal.

High manufacturing standards at FTC

It is essential that flaring nuts are manufactured to exceptionally high standards of accuracy. In the aerospace industry, assembly failures can have catastrophic consequences. At Fastener Technology Corp., we have the full range of accreditations that ensure that we meet or exceed the most demanding standards of the aerospace industry. These include AS9100 and ISO9001. This is one of the many reasons that, over the past 40 years, we have developed the reputation for quality standards that means that we count the largest aerospace manufacturers among our client base.

Wide range of materials used by FTC

All aircraft and aerospace products encounter a wide range of environments when in use.  This means that the materials used to manufacture aerospace components, including all fasteners, need to be appropriate for the environments that they encounter.  These could include extremes of temperature (hot or cold), or environments in which the component will encounter corrosion from chemicals, water or humidity, or UV. The precise materials used will need to compensate for the stresses that they will encounter. At FTC, our decades of experience mean that we are experts in this and are well-placed to advise our clients on the most appropriate material to use for their flaring nuts, depending on the precise nature of their production needs.
